About

Ayhan Aytes is a Visual Media researcher focusing on ethno-cultural interfaces. He explores various interaction models for alternative cultural representations in digital media, influenced by visual analysis of pre-modern media such as illuminated manuscripts, maps and miniature books. His photography and multimedia works were recently exhibited in a joint project in Istanbul, “Reading the City of Signs: Istanbul: Revealed or Mystified.” He holds a master’s degree in Communication Design from the Institute of Design in Chicago. He is currently a graduate researcher in the Department of Communication at the University of California San Diego. He is a research assistant in the University of California multi-campus research group, Transliteracies.
